Our English lessons will be based around the book 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty. We will be following Jim Jarvis on his journey through Victorian London and learning about what life was like during that era.
Year_5 Summer One 2019 Curriculum Topics
In Maths we will be learning more about percentages and how they link to fractions and decimals. We will also be covering 3D shape, angles and statistics.
This half term we will be learning about living things and their habitats. This will include looking at plant and animal life cycles and also how different species have adapted to their environments.
What was Britain like during Queen Victoria's reign?
We will be continuing our work with the Sheffield Music Hub which will lead towards a performance in July. More information will be given about this nearer the time.
During our History lessons, we will learn about life in Britain during the Victorian era. We will investigate what workhouses were like, differences in how the poor and rich lived, what life was like for children and also what Queen Victoria's life was like.
Our art lessons will continue to be taught by Mrs Brailsford on Friday afternoons. The lessons will begin with sketching practice and then progress on to creating Victorian scenes.
This half term our PE days will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Our Tuesday sessions will focus on the 'fundamentals' of sport and Wednesdays will be athletics.
